GROTESQUE, SUBLIME MIX, GSMIX

video installation, 2004

This work’s proposal is to recuperate and give new meaning to a documentary image,

through the creation of an expanded dimension, based on images recorded

at a theatre actors’ studio.

GSMIX is the result of a live edition of such documentary material performed on a single 16’  session (without any additional editing), where 3 bodies can be seen touching, embracing, kissing, grabbing, hitting, hurting, loving in an action without a beginning or end. These are minimalist images of strong emotional impact, stuck in an extended time/space, and its relevance lays not only on the images it generates but also on the form and rhythm of exhibition proposed by the support (mono or 3 channels) and the place of exhibition.
